RIP Leon Kompowsky
Lisa it's your birthday, god bless you this day You gave me the gift of a little sister and I'm proud of you today. LISA IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA LISA IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA I wish you love and good will, I wish you peace and joy, I wish you better than your heart desires, and your first kiss from a boy LISA IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA LISA IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA ....yeah! In other news, it turns out someone in this household (likely my mom) bought one of the 100 million copies of Thriller that have been sold, ever. Its purchase likely predates my birth, and until about an hour ago it was unopened. I'm listening to it right now. It's alright. Talkin' baseball
A couple of things today... First of all, a very happy birthday to zandras_court! I hope you have/had a fantastic day! Celebrate heartily! Next, I'm carrying on this baseball meme that Amber posted. It's nice, it's simple, and there are pictures involved, so it's going behind the cut: ( baseball meme ) Current Music: Bon Iver: For Emma, Forever Ago | | Monday, June 15th, 2009 | | 3:52 am |
Both feet on the floor, two hands on the wheel
I don't want to romanticize the act of driving too much. I understand that it's contributing to the slow death of the planet and all [not to, like...downplay that, or anything, I guess]. But that doesn't mean that I don't like driving. In fact, I would say that I like driving very much. It's incredibly relaxing; it gives me the chance to think about things in the event that I'm driving alone; I can blast my music as loud [or as soft] as I desire; I can have conversations with people riding with me, in the event that I'm riding with company; I like the way that certain songs feel while I'm driving, in the sense that they feel different than when I listen to them when I'm not driving ["Spiders (Kidsmoke)" by Wilco, "Chicago" by Sufjan Stevens, the entirety of Born to Run]. Like, y'know...stuff like that. I think I may be spending too much time on Wikipedia looking up Interstate highways and famous-but-defunct US highways. I just think it would be pretty cool to drive the length of Interstate 90, from Seattle to Boston, especially while I'm young, single, and unemployed. I was going to do some yard work today, to pass the time, and to, uh..."beautify" the building. But, alas, it's raining. So, maybe I'll take down the Christmas tree instead. The Cubs are playing an afternoon game, though. Decisions, decisions. | | Thursday, May 14th, 2009 | | 3:04 pm |

Life (the entry)
Stuff that's happened since the last update: - Record Store Day - Death Cab for Cutie, Neko Case, M. Ward, Tinted Windows - Bulls make the playoffs. - Bulls lose in the playoffs. - Oh hey, Arlen Specter, how 'bout that EFCA? - Last classes for the foreseeable future. - Had one graduation ceremony. - Other stuff. Stuff that's coming up: - Last finals for the foreseeable future. - Another graduation ceremony. - An endless time of whatever. - Who the hell knows. - Other stuff. Updates will likely be scarce for the next week (which is, ya know, par for the course, I guess). Three papers, one final interview test, and a project unrelated to school that I'm thinking of doing that sort of falls under that "well it seemed like a good idea at the time" category, and then...who knows. We'll see. Current Music: Hold Steady: Stay Positive | | Thursday, April 16th, 2009 | | 12:29 am |
Thanks to Zandra and Journey for the birthday wishes via Livejournal! Thanks to Chris for the birthday wishes via AIM! Thanks to DMei for the birthday wishes via face-to-face conversation and Facebook! Thanks to Vicky for the birthday wishes via text! Thanks to Lauren for the birthday wishes via Facebook! That may or may not cover everyone who might read this. If I missed you feel free to kick my ass, and I'll amend this. It was a pretty good one, too! No complaints here. Happy teabagging, everyone!
Or, should I say, the five of you in Sacramento who care about this shit. If indeed that constitutes "everyone." Current Music: Mountain Goats: Nine Black Poppies | | Saturday, April 11th, 2009 | | 10:56 am |
I was sitting there on Google where I was about to Google something, and I forgot what it was that I wanted to Google. Gah, dammit. Current Music: The Magnetic Fields: 69 Love Songs | | Monday, April 6th, 2009 | | 4:19 pm |
Happy opening day, everyone!
No matter how crummy things might be in life [not saying that things are crummy right now, just hypothetically speaking], there is one constant. Usually, between early April and late September/early October, the Chicago Cubs play 162 games or so every year. This year should be no exception, and that starts tonight. Here's to playing somewhere between 172 and 181 games this year. Go Cubs. Current Music: Hold Steady: Boys and Girls in America | | Sunday, April 5th, 2009 | | 11:58 pm |
Fun fact about Michigan:
They don't require a car to have front license plates. Wiki says that it hasn't been required since April 1981. I totally didn't know this, so it was weird seeing all these cars in Michigan without front license plates. Now I'm back in Illinois where a car needs both. Whether I feel more/less comfortable because of it remains to be seen, but it was certainly unusual. Current Music: Sufjan Stevens: Illinois | | Saturday, April 4th, 2009 | | 1:44 am |
Record Stores
Whenever I go out of town, from here on out, I'm going to make it a point to stop at a record store in whichever city I happen to be, especially if it's a college town. I dunno, I just think that it's kind of cool. Current Music: Mountain Goats: Tallahassee | | Monday, March 23rd, 2009 | | 10:47 am |

Time, it goes
I keep forgetting about the amount of time I have left at school, which really isn't much time at all. I'm going to be out in May. That's a month and a half away, basically. It's gonna be here before I know it. I think that just means I need to make the most out of these last months, since this dynamic that exists now, whatever it may be, in whatever form it takes, with this particular group of people, will never really be recreated ever again, right? Right. Make the most of it. Current Music: Neko Case: Middle Cyclone | | Wednesday, March 11th, 2009 | | 4:17 pm |
Hey Perry
I got $60 Lollapalooza passes today. Color me excited! The early lineup rumors did not really excite me [cept for BEASTIE BOYS!], but if there's one thing that will excite me, it's cheap-o three day passes, and not feeling at all guilty if I leave before Jane's Addiction even starts. | | Saturday, March 7th, 2009 | | 2:37 am |
Saw Watchmen today...
Won't say anything about the movie itself, except that it had a pretty shitty soundtrack, and that Leonard Cohen is ruined for me forever. Other than that, I'm really sorry I haven't been updating that much. I'm gonna work on that, I swear. Current Music: Titus Andronicus - The Airing of Grievances |
